Visitors, local supporting KI Oysters during ongoing algal bloom

DINING cashbacks and travel vouchers issued by the State and Federal governments’ Algal Bloom Summer Plan are making a difference for Kangaroo Island Oysters.

The island’s oyster farm is operated by Marisa and Todd Packer, and their son Jack, who is farm manager.

Marisa said the first round of the $100 Coast is Calling Travel Vouchers did see a handful of people visit the farm, including a couple of locals.

KI Oysters continues to offer its oyster shucking experience tours, but bookings are required.

And now they were hoping the latest Dining Cashback program offering winners 50% off, up to $50* would encourage more people to stop in at the oyster farm shed for a meal.

Marisa looked forward to seeing KI locals and visitors making use of the next Dining Cashback round, which was drawn 1 December 2025.

She urged winners to look out for KI businesses advertising their participation with a sign out front.

KI Oysters now have an outside dining area with a liquor licence, perfect for summer meals, and recently took over as the island’s only fish processor, offering locally caught fish when available, as well as local lobster and Spencer Gulf prawns.

“We’ve got delicious smoked oysters now and you can get a platter of smoked oysters with cheese and KI olives, or try our lobster and prawn boats, which are like small sandwiches,” she said.
